The Top Mobile Poker Calculators

Poker calculators are widely regarded as virtually indispensable tools for beginners and intermediate players alike – as long as you don’t achieve a deep understanding of the mathematics governing the situations that can develop on the felt, the assistance of such software can be of great importance, significantly improving your odds of becoming a winning player in the long term. Obviously, PC and Mac users can depend on their tracking software when it comes to performing the necessary calculations and more, but what if you’re playing in a live casino or tournament setting? What if you want to check a hand or two after a smartphone poker session while you’re sitting on the bus? This is where poker calculators for Android mobile devices come in, as they enable you to perform all the basic and some of the not-so-basic calculations without even thinking of booting up your desktop computer. Better yet, most of the available apps are completely free and extremely easy to use – even when they give you some surprisingly powerful tools to work with. This article has been written to help you in choosing the best Android poker calculator possible and includes the pros and cons of three of the most popular, free poker calculator apps currently available on the web.

The Poker Odds Calculator (Free) by lyleapps

The Poker Odds Calculator by lyleapps supports both Texas Hold’em and Omaha High, which certainly gives it an edge over other apps that focus on a single poker variant. With this app, odds can be generated using either a simulation or calculation for up to 9 players and you can adjust your settings to  account for the number of unknowns or pick the desired accuracy setting. The software has no known bugs at the moment and the only drawback to using this particular app is the fact that you need to purchase the Pro version in order to unlock some additional features, such Omaha High/Low calculator and multi-core support for faster calculations on hi-end Android devices. Despite this minor shortcoming, the free version has nearly complete functionality and allows you to input any combination of player cards as well as the community cards to calculate the odds of winning, tying or losing at any stage of the game. What’s more, real time approximate odds are displayed while calculating more precise odds – and when the app isn’t capable of performing an exact calculation due to insufficient data, a Monte Carlo simulation will be ran to provide you with the closest approximation possible.  DOWNLOAD FROM GOOGLE PLAY

The Poker Odds Calculator (Free) by Perun Labs

The Poker Odds Calculator developed by Perun Labs is more limited in terms of scope, as the only poker variant supported in this app is Texas Hold’em. This app also has a so-called Pro version, but here the only difference is the lack of ads if you decide to pay. The results provided by this poker calculator are fast and accurate, as the app takes all the possible calculations into account instead of checking only a limited amount of randomly generated card combinations. Much like the lyleapps product, this app caches hand results once they've been calculated, which means that the next time you enter the same card combination, the result will be displayed immediately and you won’t have to wait for a time consuming calculation process to finish. The similarities don’t really end there, as the app is also capable of displaying a close approximate result while the more complex exact calculation is being solved, which means that the app is extremely useful in any live Texas Hold’em game – especially since you don’t need to specify all the cards if you need an instant (but less reliable) result. A unique function of this calculator is the ability to specify the discarded cards to narrow down the range of possible combinations, which obviously may come in handy whenever a card is accidentally dealt face up in a pub environment. Poker Equity Calculator (Free) by mamuso

The third app I want to mention is Poker Equity Calculator by mamuso, which is also limited to calculating the odds for Texas Hold’em only, but has enough unique and extremely useful features to distinguish itself from the crowd of similar apps. First of all, this poker calculator allows you to limit the range of each player for the purpose of calculations by type (suited, offsuit, pairs), percentage (for example, best 15% of hands) or by suits. This makes this app particularly useful whenever you believe you have a solid read on your opponents – especially since you can adjust those settings for multiple players. Aside from that, Poker Equity Calculator sports an intuitive user interface, allows you to pick a four color deck over the traditional red-and-white one and supports up to 10 players, which gives it a slight edge over 9-max apps. The app has received plenty of positive feedback on the notorious 2+2 poker forums, so while it’s possible that a limited number of bugs still exists in the current release, it’s still an extremely powerful tool that is guaranteed to benefit anyone planning to use such an app in a live poker game.  For now, the only supported poker variant is Texas Hold’em – but the unique feature of narrowing down the range of every player involved for the purpose of simulation definitely makes it stand out from the crowd of otherwise similar apps. Even better, mamuso’s app easily handles crowded games, so it doesn’t matter whether you’re playing heads-up or 10-max – the Poker Equity Calculator is going to provide you with an instant approximation followed by a more precise calculation a few seconds later. Like with all similar programs, the stronger hardware you have, the quicker the results will be – but I’m happy to report that the algorithm used here seems to be fairly efficient, which makes this app quite usable in a live game setting even with Android 2.2 devices.  DOWNLOAD FROM GOOGLE PLAY

CJ Poker Calculator

The CJ Poker Calculator is probably the fastest of all the apps I’ve tested so far – at least when you adjust the Speed and Accuracy settings for maximum performance. The user interface is graphical with big, proper buttons and fonts which do their job even when working with extremely limited screen real estate. What’s more, the equity is always color coded, so it’s easy to see the results at a glance – and if that wasn’t enough, CJ Poker Calculator prevents the user from entering the same card twice. Unfortunately, the speed of the algorithm of this app has a significant downside, as it is quite possible to have different win and tie % with exactly the same cards lying on the table. Obviously, those differences are rather small, but if you’re aiming for maximum accuracy you might want to stick with another calculator. DOWNLOAD FROM GOOGLE PLAY

Poker Odds Calculator From Gemego Ltd.

Last, but not least – the Poker Odds Calculator from Gemego Ltd allows you to calculate your odds of winning at pre-flop, flop, turn and river in Texas Hold’em with anywhere between 2 and 10 players sitting at the table. This app has a number of extremely practical features – for example if one of the players already holds a monster and it’s impossible to make a better hand, you’ll receive an appropriate information upon inputting the data. Even better, Poker Odds Calculator will also inform you what kind of combination you already have and has a more detailed view that shows the odds of making a particular hand, whether it’s the royal flush, a straight or a common pair.  DOWNLOAD FROM GOOGLE PLAY
